Teach abroad and join the founding faculty of BASIS Bilingual School Guangming Shenzhen (BBGM), set to open in September 2024. It will be an amazing purpose-built campus. We will have Reggio inspired early childhood spaces and state-of-the-art labs and classrooms in the lower and upper schools. To ensure a well-rounded education, we will have dedicated visual arts, performance/drama theaters and extensive athletic facilities—including an indoor pool.
BBGM will deliver a bilingual education using the UK Primary curriculum, followed by choices of Advanced Placement courses. The school, which is pursuing accreditation with the Chinese Ministry of Education and AdvancEd/Cognia, anticipates a first-year enrollment of 600 students, mostly from China, with a small percentage from the U.S. and UK. BBGM anticipates that about 42% of its teaching staff will be Chinese. Dr. DiFabio adds,
As someone who struggled a great deal in school, I want BASIS Bilingual School Guangming Shenzhen to be a learning community where children can be appropriately challenged and be able to realize success. I also want this for our teachers. I want teachers who are experts in their subjects and committed to growth. As we are a new school, I want teachers who share in the excitement of being part of a founding faculty, who want to build programs here that will shape our school and children for many years to come.
BBSG hires experienced educators of diverse profiles wishing to teach abroad, including couples with a non-teaching partner and seasoned teachers without certification. Candidates must hold an academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. As per government regulations, those up to the age of 60 may obtain a work visa.
The international teaching benefits package includes a moving allowance and furnished housing commensurate with family size. After the first year, teachers may opt for a housing allowance at a place of their choosing. An annual airfare for overseas teaching employees and their dependents is also provided. Tuition is free for up to two children. Other bonuses include breakfast and lunch on school days for employees and up to two dependent children attending the school. Worldwide health insurance, including life, dental, and long-term disability, are fully covered.
