Teach Abroad in Foshan

Expected to open in September 2019, Nord Anglia School Foshan (NAS Foshan) will provide state-of-the-art teaching and learning environments, with a capacity for over 2,000 students. NAS Foshan’s bilingual curriculum is based on the Guangdong K–12 curriculum blended with globally respected international curriculum elements and teaching methods. As a result, its students, aged 6–18 years old, will receive the best of Eastern and Western education: a solid foundation of Chinese culture as well as the knowledge and skills for success in an increasingly globalized world.

Nord Anglia Education—a fast-paced and growing family of 56 international schools in China, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and the Americas—provides an outstanding education to approximately 50,000 students from preschool through the end of secondary school. While each unique Nord Anglia Education school is designed to meet the needs of its community, every school has access to a wide range of resources and support to enhance student success: the Global Campus, Nord Anglia University as well as collaborations with The Juilliard School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and King’s College London.

The home of iconic cultural traditions such as kung fu and Chinese opera, Foshan is one of the main cities of Pearl River Delta and Great Bay and is located in the Guangdong province in southeastern mainland China. From Foshan, one can easily travel to Guangzhou and Hong Kong. The NAS Foshan campus, west of the city, is immersed in a natural environment, surrounded by greenery, fresh water, and fresh air.

NAS Foshan delivers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary and Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. Currently pre-enrolled are 204 K–12 boarding and day students, mostly Chinese, with 2% from North America and the U.K. The school is in the process of obtaining local accreditation and will, in time, apply to the Council of International Schools and the IB Organization for accreditation and authorization, respectively. The total teaching staff of 29 comprises 15 from North America and the U.K. and 14 from China.

The school is interested in hiring experienced, certificated singles and couples, including those with a non-teaching partner. They will also consider outstanding candidates certified in a non-English speaking country. Candidates must possess an academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. Certified teachers up to the age of 60 may obtain a work visa.

Along with great training and a competitive package, teachers will enjoy the chance to live and work in one of the world’s most vibrant cities. Benefits include housing, a moving allowance, airfare, and full tuition for up to two children. Worldwide health insurance is fully covered. This package not only amounts to great savings, but the school also has much to say about the professional development opportunities afforded by the very collaborations from which its students also benefit:

“Nord Anglia University unites our team through a vibrant online platform, which harnesses the collective expertise of  . . . peers in an exchange of knowledge, ideas, and best practice. We also provide extensive online and face-to-face professional development through Nord Anglia University to ensure that our teachers don’t just maintain their skills, they [also] develop at the cutting edge of educational thinking. Our collaborations with The Juilliard School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) offers our teachers unrivalled access to leading experts in their fields. We also offer selected candidates from our staff worldwide an opportunity to earn their Executive Master’s in International Education in an exclusive collaboration with King’s College London.”
