Teach Abroad in Dubai

Al Mizhar American Academy (AAM), now with Search Associates, is a K–12 school with all-female day school from Grades 1-12 and coed in the Early Years. Situated in Dubai, one of the most vibrant, cosmopolitan cities in the world. Dubai’s cityscape combines traditional Arabic buildings with unique modern architecture and some of the world's most notable skyscrapers, like the famous Burj Khalifa, presently the world's tallest building at 160 stories. Dubai offers a multitude of exciting experiences to satisfy all interests, from long stretches of sandy beach to desert safaris, ultra-luxurious hotels, PGA-standard golf courses, traditional souqs, extravagant shopping malls, ancient and historical sites, camel rides, parks, scuba diving, parachuting, indoor skiing, Dubai Autodrome for go-karting, and much more!

AAM is fully accredited by both the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Currently, approximately 620 K–12 students representing over 20 nationalities are enrolled, with 80% from the U.A.E. and 6% from North America and the U.K. The school delivers the U.S. Common Core curriculum and Advanced Placement courses in high school. The teaching staff of almost 100 is predominantly made up of North Americans, however, with a wide mix of international staff, including those from the Gulf Cooperation Council region, South Africa, U.K., and Australia.

AAM focuses on the whole student, both her academic life and general well being. Students have opportunities to pursue their passions and follow their dreams through the extra-curricular program offered onsite, called CHIPS (an acronym for Creativity, Happiness, Innovation, Pioneering, and Spirited activities). The program offers the following: Student Council, Model United Nations (MUN), Book Club, a range of sports, robotics, painting, Writer's Workshop, public speaking, student leadership, Drama Club, scrap booking, Qur’an Club, cooking, educational trips, and more! On its website, the school says

"The program aligns with the direction of the UAE in the present time, which strives to bring a happy environment across all establishments and environments to nourish the surrounding culture and the wellbeing of our students firstly and foremost.”

AAM is interested in hiring experienced, certified single teachers who hold academic degrees in the subject they will be teaching. Qualified candidates up to the age of 50 may obtain a work visa. The school says,

"We offer a warm, pleasant working environment with various professional development opportunities. As a successful applicant, you will become part of a highly professional, international and amicable team at AAM. . . .We would normally anticipate a minimum of two years’ qualified teaching experience.”

The package includes a non-taxed salary, an accommodation plus a generous furniture allowance, and annual airfare. AAM covers 100% of the tuition fees within the Taaleem group of schools. Local health insurance is fully covered, and as stated by the school, professional development is provided.
