While Senior Associate, Michael Williams, has a home in the Pacific Northwest, and while he organizes the San Francisco fair, he hasn't left his heart there.
It's in China.
Michael, who has served for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges on numerous accreditation visiting teams to a variety of schools throughout Asia, has found two golden opportunities this school year: touch base with approximately 20 Search-registered schools in eight major cities throughout mainland China and visit with some of the candidates whom he has helped to find jobs in international education there. Michael explains,
"I'm looking forward to visiting many schools in China. China is the largest and fastest growing country for international schools, and because I'm living in Shanghai for the current academic year, while my son attends an international school for his senior year, it only makes sense to take advantage of the opportunity to make some school visits."
Michael's bond with China began in 1989 when he served as the Principal of Shanghai American School. He then returned to the Pacific Northwest to take up a position as an Elementary Principal and Coordinator of International Programs in the Puyallup School District. Yet China summoned him again. From 1998 to 2007, he worked for the Shanghai Community International Schools as it underwent enormous growth in population and construction. At the same time, he served as a board member and President of the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools.
Michael understands that in order to attract families for multi-national corporations and diplomatic roles in foreign countries, there must be quality international schools.
