Search Melbourne Fair 2018

A family affairDuring the first week of 2018, Search Associates Melbourne Fair welcomed representation from 50 schools and approximately 135 candidates. A total of 68 positions have been filled so far, and Senior Associate and host Nick Kendell anticipates that around 65% of candidates will be placed as a result of the fair. Nick and his assistant Paula Kendell, with the help of their talented crew, were able to assist attendees through what can sometimes be a demanding time.

School PresentationThis year Search Melbourne was held in the luxurious InterContinental Hotel, in the heart of Melbourne. The unique blend of distinctive modern style and heritage provided the perfect venue for candidates and recruiters. The layout of the hotel was practical, with all events taking place on the one floor.

The Melbourne Fair guarantees an intimate and personalized experience, where all individual needs are heard and taken care of. Additionally, Melbourne candidates are all pre-screened before being invited to attend the fair, meaning the percentage of candidates hired is very high. Due to the size of the fair, candidates have a greater opportunity for interviews and positions. The past several years, the Kendells have invited a specialized, young and energetic public relations team—Search Melbourne’s X-factor—who deliver high quality service and help in any way possible.

School presentationAs placement rates for the fair continue to reach exceedingly high numbers, Search Melbourne continues to receive positive feedback. Candidates Michael, Dan, and Kaitlin, respectively, had much to say:

“[To Nick] You’ve really opened my eyes to the international teaching opportunities available.”

“What an experience for my first fair. I have loved every moment of it, the stress and the assistance. Nick and his team are amazing and truly want people to find success. It was a privilege to be a part of. The school I chose is dynamic and amazing, and I think we are a fantastic fit.”

“I have [wanted] to live/work in Japan for 10+ years. I joined Search Associates with the intention of doing so. . . After going to the Japanese presentation, my husband and I decided to check out the other school presentations, just because we were there. . . Not only did I sign a contract with a school in Beijing, but so did my husband who was only coming as a supportive spouse. . . The fair was such a worthwhile experience, and I am so glad I went. As someone who has never lived overseas, it helped me wrap my head around what to look for and what schools were the best fit for me. It helped me gain an understanding of the whole process, which I wouldn't have been able to wrap my head around from behind a computer screen. Thank you Nick once again for putting up with my nervous emails beforehand. You were definitely correct when you said Search Associates were the best!”

Overall, the 2018 Melbourne Fair has been a huge success. Its high placement rate and its relaxed, personal atmosphere have made it a forerunner in the international recruitment field.
