Search London 2018

Search Associates’ London January Fair attracted 172 schools worldwide and over 560 candidates to the Millennium Gloucester Hotel to recruit for 1,050 vacancies. Senior Associate and fair organizer Gez Hayden saw 200 international teaching positions filled at the fair and anticipates another 100 or so will be hired over the next two months!

Search London is a curriculum-specific job fair for International Baccalaureate and British International Curriculum-experienced candidates, who have taught in international schools—not domestically.

The Millennium Gloucester Hotel and Conference Centre is located in Kensington, minutes from the Gloucester Road tube station, easily accessible to Heathrow on one subway line, and within easy reach of the whole of central London. The Search London fair occupies all of the hotel’s facilities and conference rooms!

This tremendous event could not happen without the support of a large and enthusiastic team. Acting as candidate advisors were Senior Associates David Cope, Harry Deelman and partner Margaret Deelman, John Ritter, Julie Ryan, Diana Kerry, Robert Barlas, Executive Assistants Rebecca Steadman, Rosie Eacott, and former Head of School Tony Race. Executive Assistant Amelia Ren-Hayden ably managed a team of 11 to keep the fair running smoothly.

Recruiters also played a vital role in the success of the fair. Candidates commented favourably on how friendly and warm they were—even giving time to those for whom there were no openings at their schools. Candidate Peggy Scrimali sent Gez a note:

“I just want to thank you and your enormous team for such an enjoyable 'first' job fair. It was a very unique experience, but it works. What an amazing international community we are in. It was awesome meeting educators from all over the world and hearing their stories. It was a noncompetitive environment along with everyone wishing the other the best.”

There is nothing like attending a job fair for the eye-opening experience of realizing all the possibilities for fine educators. The world of international education opens you to some of the most interesting places on Earth and some of the best people you ever want to meet.
