Search Dubai Fair 2021

From left: Bill Turner, Dr. Lina Lewis, Louise Dawson, Alison Turner, and Sam Turner Senior Associate Bill Turner and co-fair organiser Alison Turner were delighted by the November 5th Dubai in-person Job Fair—our first in-person job fair since January 2021!

Bill said it was “a day to cheer your hearts” as recruiters and candidates were once more able to meet face-to-face at Universal American School, Festival City, Dubai, UAE.

What did that momentous day look like? Forty-six top quality candidates—already accustomed to living in and working at schools in the UAE—met with 17 recruiters from seven schools, two from Abu Dhabi and five from Dubai. Fair participants enjoyed free food and beverages all day.

The day was followed by two days of the Global Virtual Fair, run in conjunction with Senior Associates Gez Hayden and Ray Sparks, and Senior Assistant Amelia Hayden. Two-hundred and ninety-seven candidates and 62 schools attended this event. The fair was designed exclusively for educators with international school experience gained beyond their home country, in an international school. Invited participants comprised teachers in all fields and grade levels as well as those in leadership and middle management positions—including counselors, librarians, and athletic directors.

Bill is proud to report that Search Dubai Fair was not only extremely COVID-19-safe (all attendees were used to abiding by the strict UAE regulations for entry into schools) but also eco-friendly: there was no hand-out of the traditional folders and papers. All records were kept on the “fair portal.” The focus at the Friday event was on good, old-fashioned face-to-face communication--how we have missed this!
