Search Toronto Fair continues to grow! This year, 56 candidates met recruiters from 24 schools to discuss 250 international teaching vacancies. Senior Associate and fair host Gary MacPhie and his wife Executive Assistant Barbara MacPhie were proud to offer specialized service and attention to detail to all guests. So this December 7th and 8th, a team joined them in Toronto to help make it happen: Senior Associates Bob Barlas, Jennifer Imholt, along with School Coordinator, Nazgol Adili.
The event was held at Toronto’s InterContinental Yorkville Hotel, a boutique hotel that provided Search Toronto with the entire second floor. All school presentations, the candidate and recruiters’ lounge, and a large ball room for sign-ups were close to each other, making it ideal to connect and communicate with one another.
Despite its small size, Toronto Fair was able to offer many useful workshops: Canadian Non-resident Tax Issues—presented by Ernie Nagratha, who has sponsored our Toronto Fair for the past 18 years. Other workshops included Benefits of the International Baccalaureate Programmes; Child Protective Recruitment, presented by Diane Riley of Letovo School, Russia; All About APLi for Candidates; Moving Overseas…and Loving It!; Interview Tips; and Avoiding the Pension Shortfall, presented by one of our sponsors Chris Jupp of Renaissance Workplace Benefits. Chris presented Workplace Benefits for recruiters as well. Gary and Barbara were also happy to have SUNY Buffalo State as a first-time sponsor.
After the fair, candidate Chantal Gosselin shared her satisfaction:
Gary and Barb were amazing in supporting me through this process. THANK YOU. . . The Toronto Fair was also of great help to meet recruiters in person and secure a position. Thank you, Search Associates. I will not hesitate to recommend this platform.
