Overseas Teaching Jobs at Australian International School of Phnom Penh

The Australian International School of Phnom Penh (AISPP) officially opened its doors in August 2017, with students enrolled from Early Years up to Grade 6. AISPP is an International Baccalaureate (IB) candidate school with ambitious plans to become an International Baccalaureate World School that, that in the coming years, will offer every level of the IB Programme from ages three to 19. At present, 34 students, most of whom are Cambodian, are enrolled at AISPP. Half of the teaching staff of 11 is from North America and the U.K., with one from Cambodia.

The campus boasts plenty of open space and beautiful outdoor features. Indoors, AISPP has constructed maker spaces—designated areas containing elements of science labs, woodshops, computer labs, or art roomsdesigned to accommodate a wide range of activities, tools, and materials. The school’s interdisciplinary and collaborative learning spaces support its belief that the diversity and cross-pollination of ideas and activities are critical to the exploration, design, and building process.

AISPP’s innovative curriculum, based on the Australian Curriculum standards, is a comprehensive guided inquiry program that integrates core academic disciplines with social and ethical responsibility. The school says,

“Expertly crafted units of inquiry are organized under eight overarching themes, include rich assessment tasks and are designed with concepts such as necessity, creativity, sustainability and change allowing for a community focus on what the students are learning.”

In addition to academics, students participate in an extra-curricular program called R.I.S.E., which allows for recreation, innovation, social [interaction], and experience. Current offerings include swimming, robotics, arts & crafts, karate, soccer, Khmer, Mandarin, and French.

AISPP is interested in hiring singles and couples, including those who are not married and those with a non-teaching spouse. They would also consider outstanding, newly certified teachers. Candidates must be certified in an English-speaking country and possess an academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. There is no age limit to obtain a work visa in Cambodia.

A competitive salary and benefits package, combined with a low cost of living, allow for ample savings on an AISPP package. The school provides a generous one-time moving and a monthly housing stipend as well as annual round-trip airfare home. Worldwide health insurance, including emergency evacuation, is fully covered, as is full tuition for up to two children. Local employment opportunities are available for non-teaching spouses.
