Overseas Teaching at Misk Schools: Shaping Future Leaders in Riyadh

Established in 2016 by HRH Prince Mohammed Bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Misk Schools is a progressive educational institution in Riyadh with a mandate to cultivate the next generation of leaders. Overseas teaching at this private day school also provides the opportunity to work under the umbrella of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman's Misk Foundation, a youth organization founded in 2011. Both entities are non-profit and share a common goal: fostering learning and leadership among the Kingdom's youth to contribute to a brighter future for Saudi Arabia.

Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the Education and Training Evaluation Commission of Saudi Arabia, Misk Schools comprises nine schools in one for students aged four to 18. After Pre-K and Kindergarten, there are separate boys’ and girls’ schools at each level as follows: Lower Primary (Grades 1 to 3), Upper Primary (Grades 4 to 6); Middle School (Grades 7 and 8), and Senior School (Grades 9 to 12).

Teach abroad and join Misk Schools’ vision to be a top school for leadership by 2030. To deliver on this, its mission is to instill in students the knowledge, values, and skills they need to become leaders—of themselves and others and in their field of study—and enable their entry to the leading universities in Saudi Arabia and the world.

Misk Schools' 21-hectare, purpose-built campus stands as a testament to excellence and a hub for fostering holistic education rivalling the best schools worldwide. Boasting outstanding facilities for STEM, creative arts, culture, sports and more, the campus is situated in the Mohammed Bin Salman Nonprofit City, a burgeoning district in Riyadh dedicated to innovation, education, culture, and media.

With a current student body of over 500, enrollment will rise progressively to 1,020 over the next few years. Admissions are selective, and while the current student profile is predominantly Saudi, the school is now welcoming applications from talented international students. Misk Schools students’ rigorous, highly personalized academic journey prepares them for IGCSEs in Grades 9 and 10, followed by an international A-level or BTEC pathway in Grades 11 and 12. Saudi National Identity Subjects are taught in all years. Small class sizes, with a maximum of 15 students, ensure that every student benefits from a personalized timetable designed to maximize his or her unique potential.

At the core of Misk Schools' educational philosophy is High-Performance Learning (HPL), a proven approach based on the belief that all students can achieve high academic performance and be equipped with the values and attributes essential for success at university and in life. Integrated with this is a pioneering, bespoke leadership curriculum that emphasizes and deepens the effectiveness of HPL in both academic and co-curricular contexts.

The school promotes project-based and experiential learning in all aspects of its educational delivery. Active participation is encouraged in local and international competitions/Olympiads, and Senior School students can pursue Higher and Extended Project Qualifications. Diverse leadership development programs include annual Leadership Bootcamps, Grade 9 internships, and the opportunity to earn a Level 2 Award in Team Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute. The graduate qualification is the unique Misk Schools Diploma. The school’s careers department supports applications to leading universities in the US, UK, Saudi Arabia, and all over the world.

Co-curricular activities form an important part of the learning journey, with over 100 options on offer and a particular focus on identifying talent in all fields so it can be nurtured to the highest possible performance levels.

The Misk Schools staff team is international. More than 40 percent of its professionals represent more than 20 countries. International teachers interested in applying must hold subject-related certification and a degree. The school welcomes outstanding newly qualified candidates and those certified in non-English speaking countries.

The international teaching benefits package includes a non-taxed, competitive salary as well as housing, transportation, and utility allowance. Tuition for up to two children and local health insurance are fully covered. Additionally, professional development is facilitated through the onsite Misk Schools Academy.
