On behalf of Ms. Inna Klein, Head of School at Xiamen International School, Xiamen, PRC, Search Associates (SEARCH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Cal Stuart as the Secondary Principal, beginning in July 2024. In her announcement to the XIS community, Ms. Klein stated,
After two days of onsite interviews with many stakeholders at XIS, it became clear that Mr. Stuart was the right choice to keep our secondary school moving forward. Mr. Stuart was very impressed with the XIS community and is ecstatic to join our team.
Mr. Stuart is currently serving as Middle School Deputy Principal at the International Community School (ICS), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Prior to this, he served in leadership roles in Taiwan, Thailand, and South Korea. A SEARCH member since 2010, Cal has this to say:
Associates John and Susan Ritter and Brian Lettinga have been a phenomenal support over the years. I’d also like to thank Senior Consultant Norma Hudson; through this process, she was generous with her time, and her guidance was so valuable.
Cal’s commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and dedication to empowering students to reach their full potential aligns perfectly with the values and vision of XIS. Eager to collaborate with the dedicated faculty, staff, students, and parents, he states,
When I flew out for the final round of interviews what came across so strongly to me was the sense of community and how passionate they were about making XIS a leading international school... What excites me about the school is its focus on learning with the aspiration that all students will become Empowered, Prepared, and Confident.
An exercise enthusiast who loves exploring new places on the weekends, Cal shares some thoughts on staying balanced in trying times:
You can only lead well if you are well. All aspects of wellness are key to leading well. When challenging times hit, I am also aware of how to use my time effectively. And I think, stay true to yourself…Staying true to myself means that I have integrity and a willingness to learn and grow. Finally, I am reminded, with every challenge, there is a solution, and there is always a way forward even if you can't see it at the time.
