International Teaching Opportunities in Vietnam

Search Associates is pleased to serve Vietnam Australia International School, Ba Thang Hai Campus (VAS). Established in 2004 and licensed by the Vietnamese Government, the Vietnam Australia International Schools is a private school group offering K–12 education programs within the national education system. At present, the association serves more than 5,000 K–12 students across seven campuses in Ho Chi Minh City.

VAS’s Ba Thang Hai campus is among Ho Chi Minh City’s first educational institutions to set high standards for school facilities. Classrooms and functional spaces, such as music rooms, art rooms, studios, gyms, and laboratories, are designed specifically for student engagement and are equipped with high-end professional teaching aids and equipment. Students also enjoy multimedia labs and computer rooms with high-speed Internet connection. The modern, well-equipped libraries can satisfy all of the school community’s needs.

In addition to the Vietnamese Ministry of Education, VAS is recognized by the Cambridge Programme; the British Council; and the International Computer Driving License. During the 2015–2016 school year, the school successfully implemented two study pathways for its students: 1) the National Education Programme combined with the Cambridge Academic Programme (CAP) and 2) the National Education Programme combined with the Cambridge English Programme (CEP). Both pathways are benchmarked with internationally and nationally recognized qualifications/certifications and carefully designed to suit students in Vietnam. Currently, 1,977 K–12 students, mostly Vietnamese, are enrolled at the Ba Thang Hai Campus. The staff of 121 includes 53 Vietnamese teachers and 39 from North America and the U.K.

VAS offers students myriad learning opportunities outside the classroom. Students enjoy regularly organized outdoor learning sessions, games, and excursions to historic relics, natural environments, agricultural production units, and consumer units. After school, students may choose their favorite interests easily through athletic clubs, such as soccer, basketball, badminton, and swimming, or creative activities, such as arts and crafts, music, dance, and film. Those who wish to enhance their critical thinking skills can join clubs for chess, intellectual games, and science. Another important extracurricular program VAS has launched is the Life Skills Education Programme. The activities in this program help students develop interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills, as well as self-management, adaptability, goal setting, problem-solving, gender and sex awareness, social etiquette, and much more.

VAS is interested in hiring certified singles and couples, those licensed in English and non-English speaking countries as well as outstanding newly-certified teachers. Candidates must hold their academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. There is no age limit for certified teachers to obtain a work visa in Vietnam.

The low cost of living in Vietnam allows for savings on a VAS benefits package. The school provides first-week accommodation, a one-time settling-in allowance, and a monthly housing stipend. Also covered are both health insurance for the entire family—including emergency evacuation— and airfare for overseas hires’ every two years. Tuition plus registration fees for dependents are free as is daily lunch. Teachers will also receive professional development.
