Global Virtual Fair

Senior Associate Gary MacPhie and Executive Assistant Barbara MacPhie were very excited to host their second Global Virtual Fair Dec 11 & 12, 2021. With this event, Search Associates (SEARCH) aims to create a level playing field—and generate a lot of good matches—by designing a winter fair specifically for teachers/administrators who have not yet worked overseas and for schools who are open to hiring first-time overseas educators.

This season, Global Virtual Fair offered an opportunity for 160 recruiters from 50 schools in 25 countries to connect with a very diverse candidate pool: 300 candidates representing 41 nationalities!

To make sure all time zones were covered, Senior Associates Jen and Bob Imholt in Washington State and Bill Turner and his Search partner Alison Turner in London, England hosted the opening and closing of Q & A sessions.

Because recruiters were able to host Q & A sessions at Global Virtual Fair, candidates could ask them directly about teaching, learning, and living in the city and country of their school. Thirty-five Q&A sessions took place.

The Fair featured two live presentations: Barbara MacPhie talked about “Living Overseas & Loving It: Things to think about before you leave, and Alison and Bill Turner shared “Top Tips for Recruiting.”

New to Global Virtual Fair was the chance for candidates to post a one-minute video introducing themselves to recruiters. One-hundred and sixteen candidates took advantage of this, some of whom “produced an amazing array of creativity,” says Gary.

Search London Fair this February 18-22, 2022 will usher in the year’s first of several in-person fairs.
