The Search Vancouver fair, held February 21 - 23 and organized by Senior Associate Ray Sparks, ended the North American recruiting winter schedule, which began in Toronto, moved to Cambridge, then San Francisco, and finished north of the border in Vancouver. The event was small, yet vibrant with 44 candidates in attendance, meeting 15 international schools from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East with 150 jobs to fill.
The Delta Airport Hotel was an ideal venue for Search Vancouver, only five minutes away from the airport and a 20 minute drive to downtown Vancouver.
Many participants, especially first-timers going overseas, commented on the generosity of the recruiters, who gave them ample time, advice, and attention.
And the recruiters were delighted with the energy and enthusiasm of the candidates— individuals and couples with great experience as well as newly certified teachers. Ray couldn't be happier about the results:
"Approximately 70% of the candidates received offers, and some with multiple offers. We're looking forward to a bigger and better fair next year in Vancouver!"
Interestingly, a number of people dropped by, having heard of the fair by word of mouth. They were impressed by the variety of countries represented. Once they realized that it was by invitation only, they registered immediately and are now active candidates.
Needless to say, we look forward to the second annual Search Vancouver fair!
