Exciting Positions at Shanghai High School International Division

Search Associates candidates can look forward to great opportunities at the highly-regarded and well-established Shanghai High School International Division (SHSID). Located in southwest Shanghai, its grand campus is forested by more than 5,000 trees and seasonal flowers, displaying the harmony between nature and mankind. SHSID became an International Baccalaureate (IB) world school in 1993, soon after its founding, and ten years later distinguished itself as the only school associated with the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Shanghai. Accredited by AdvanceED, SHSID is authorized by the College Board to administer Advanced Placement (AP) courses. The school is also a center for most major educational exams, such as the SAT, ACT, Cambridge International Examinations, and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

The SHSID community benefits from a wealth of educational opportunities, facilities, and ethnic diversity. Some 3000 K12 students represent 65 different nationalities, with over one-third from North America and 10% from China. A teaching staff of 344 comprises 224 from China and 120 from North America and the U.K. The campus maintains a modern and digitized learning environment for students and cutting edge laboratories for researching innovative topics: laser and fiber optics, modern analytical chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology, financial investments, and information security. A multi-media center supports student-produced television programs. The school library provides a comfortable environment for studying as well as over 200,000 books and periodicals sectioned into primary, secondary, and high school areas. Athletes can train in the school's exceptional facilities, which include a professional running track and soccer field, seven indoor and outdoor tennis courts, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and an indoor table-tennis and badminton center, to name a few. Artists can create and rehearse at the Arts Center, Exhibition Center, and Music and Performance Center, which are loaded with modern equipment and a wide array of musical instruments.

SHSID prefers to hire single teachers but will also consider newly-certified teachers, experienced teachers without certification, and those certified in non-English speaking countries, as well as couples with non-teaching spouses. However, in order to obtain a work visa, candidates must be under 60 and possess either a teaching license or a TEFL/CELTA/TESOL certificate showing a minimum of 120 hours, which may not be earned from an online course. Additionally, candidates must hold an academic degree in the subject they will be teaching.

With fully-furnished on-campus housing, local health insurance coverage, and a 50% tuition benefit, teachers have an excellent opportunity for savings. SHSID also covers the cost of teachers' utilities and an annual round-trip airfare ticket. Finally, the school provides a substantial subsidy towards a computer.
