Dalian American International School (DAIS) in China has been added to Search Associates' catalog of superior schools. Located on Golden Pebble Beach Resort, DAIS is a 15-minute walk from the sea, twenty minutes from the suburb of Dalian Development Area, and one hour from Dalian city. The school, established in 2006 to serve residents of Dalian with foreign passports, is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and the China National Center for Curriculum and Textbook Development (NCCT). Currently there are 62 staff and a population of 447 K-12 students from 29 nations. High school students have the option to take Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
DAIS is most interested in hiring married teaching couples and singles, with or without dependents. The school will also consider exceptional, newly-certified teachers with limited experience; however, for visa purposes, they need at least two years of experience. Work visas are issued to certified teachers up to the age of 65. The school is not interested in hiring interns, nor does it prefer married couples with non-teaching spouses.
DAIS's excellent salary and comprehensive benefits package amounts to tremendous savings potential. A family of four could 'make do' on one salary. The school provides a generous housing, moving, and settling-in allowance. Teachers receive full tuition for up to two children. Health insurance includes local, worldwide, major medical, emergency evacuation, and dental coverage. DAIS pays the Chinese income tax, and the school assists with visa reimbursement and procurement. A retirement plan contribution of up to 5% begins in a teacher's second year, and more benefits are added in a teacher's third year, such as a utility allowance, contract renewal bonuses, and annual roundtrip airfare tickets to the school.
