Only 25 minutes outside of Quito, Ecuador, in the valley of Cumbayá in the Andes Mountains, an overseas teaching experience with Colegio Menor San Francisco de Quito (CMSFQ) awaits! Colegio Menor is a private, bilingual school of English and Spanish, founded in 1995 under the principles of goodness, beauty, and truth. The school’s Spanish-English bilingual K-12 liberal arts curriculum offers an innovative program in the creative arts and challenging Advanced Placement (AP) courses at the high school level. The school is very close to the Universidad San Francisco, the Cumbayá Reservoir Park, and the Paseo San Francisco shopping mall.

CMSFQ’s extracurricular program includes sports and a variety of other activities for all ages including basketball; soccer; volleyball; Model United Nations (MUN); and Movimiento Verde Club, which organizes the school’s recycling campaigns and learns alternative practices to processing waste, such as composting. CMSFQ is among more than 900 Operation Smile student clubs around the world that raise the community’s awareness and fundraise to change the lives of children born with cleft lips.
CMSFQ welcomes educators of diverse profiles, including newly-certified candidates, veteran candidates lacking certification, and interns. The school will also consider couples with a non-teaching partner. Overseas teachers must hold an academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. As per government regulations, those up to the age of 60 may obtain a work visa.
The overseas teaching benefits package includes a settling in allowance, monthly housing, and annual airfare. At the second year of employment, CMSFQ contributes 8% to a retirement plan. A discount of between 50 to 75% is applied to tuition, and daily transportation to and from the school, from most areas is provided. In addition to a variety of pre-service and in-service professional development (PD) opportunities, teachers can apply for PD funds for both local and international training. Local health insurance, including life insurance, is fully covered.
