Senior Associates Jen Imholt and Bob Imholt enjoyed the 37th Annual Tri Association Educators’ Conference this September 28th–29th, held in the tropical Dominican Republic on the beautiful campus of Carol Morgan School. This year’s theme was Transforming Schools from Within.
The conference began each day with a Keynote before breaking out into sessions before and after lunch that varied in length from one-and-a-half to three hours. After 4 p.m., participants could attend a reception at Exhibitors Hall and a party in the evening. Friday’s keynote speaker Dr. Shabbi Luthra’s, Future Forward: Catalyzing Change, shared processes, tools, and strategies that schools can use to guide their schools into the future. First and foremost, she contends, is the understanding of global trends. With the future in mind, school leaders should re-imagine, re-define, re-create, and transform their school programs. Saturday began with Myron Dueck’s keynote: Ask Them Why Listening to our Students Can Transform our Schools. Myron is adamant that student voice about individual learning experiences is critical for teaching efficacy. For learning to be personal, meaningful, and relevant, teachers must listen to student input and allow it to shape their classroom decisions.
With the goal of supporting excellent educators around the world, Search Associates aims to attend as many regional conferences as possible. Jen, who will be hosting the Latin America Fair this November 16–18, said, "One of the best parts of the conference was the ability to meet so many Heads of School and educators from around the region."
