Position Qualifications
- Qualified teacher, honours degree essential. Master’s degree/PGCE desirable.
- 10 years+ international teaching experience.
- Experience of working with IB and IGCSE curricula in high quality international school(s).
- 5 years+ of leadership experience with at least 3 years as a member of a senior leadership team.

Position Overview
We are currently seeking an outstanding candidate for the position of Secondary School Principal. The ideal candidate will be energetic and highly motivated, capable of leading the growth of the Secondary School while maintaining and enhancing educational excellence and overall school life. Role:
The Principal reports directly to the School Director and holds overall responsibility for the leadership and management of the Secondary School. This includes ensuring the delivery of high-quality education aligned with the National Curriculum of England, as well as the IGCSE and IB Curriculum Frameworks for the Diploma and Career-related Programmes. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team and the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), the Principal holds overall responsibility for student safety and wellbeing, embedding safeguarding and child protection across all school operations.
They lead a team of educators to foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment, while also contributing to whole school initiatives such as staff development, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, and student leadership. Through strategic leadership and collaboration, the Principal ensures the school’s values are reflected in both academic and pastoral practices.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop, effectively communicate and implement in alignment with the school’s vision & mission a vision of holistic success for all students across the Secondary School.
- To work with the Director and Senior Leadership team and the Board of Governors, to review, enhance and implement the vision and strategy for Secondary School
- Work collaboratively with the Secondary School Leadership Team (SSLT) to build professional capacity and strong professional teams across the Secondary School; line manage members of the SSLT and other department leaders across the school.
- Implement school policies as applicable to the Secondary School and other areas of responsibility.
- Contribute substantively to the Senior Leadership Team, and the development of the school’s strategic planning and thinking.
- Lead the Secondary School effectively and efficiently and achieve excellent/ outstanding outcomes for all learners.
- Contribute significantly to all whole school programmes and initiatives (for eg accreditation, school committees etc to name a few)
- Undertake and deliver on other tasks as assigned by the Director.
- Promote innovation in learning in Secondary education, including the use and development of appropriate technologies for learning.
- To have complete oversight of financial and administrative matters related to the functioning of the Secondary School.
- To inspire, lead and manage staff to achieve their best.
- As a member of SLT, work as and when required with the Board of Governors and contribute to Board committees and working groups.
- Be a role model for students and students and a champion for the school’s Guiding Statements.
Educational Leadership:
- Provide inspirational leadership to staff, students, and parents, fostering a culture of excellence and high expectations.
- Oversee the development and implementation of a broad and balanced curriculum which meets the needs of all students.
Staff Development and Management:
- To lead, manage and motivate all staff in area of responsibilities to achieve their best.
- Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning, providing support and guidance to staff as required.
- Recruit, train, and retain high-quality teaching staff in Secondary School, ensuring a positive working environment.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and set clear objectives to drive professional growth and development.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
Student Wellbeing:
- Take a lead in ensuring robust safeguarding and child protection practice across the Secondary School.
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and happiness of all students, promoting positive behavior and pastoral care.
- Implement strategies to support the academic, social, and emotional development of students, including those with additional needs.
- Work closely with parents and guardians to support student progress and well-being.
Community Engagement:
- Build positive relationships with parents, guardians, and the wider community, promoting the school’s values and achievements.
- Work with relevant teams to promote and represent the school externally in a professional manner.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including local authorities and educational organisations, to enhance the school’s reputation and resources.
Operational Leadership:
- Oversee key operational areas including enrichment programmes, health & safety, and pastoral systems.
- Ensure compliance with school policies and statutory requirements across all areas of responsibility.
- Support the implementation of whole school systems and contribute to cross-phase collaboration.
Other Responsibilities:
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Director to support the effective functioning of the school.
- The scope of services does not define all duties and responsibilities of the position and the school may assign other tasks from time to time to help operationalise the role.
- The school may review and modify or amend the scope of services as needed after discussion with the position holder.
