Dear Search Associates Colleagues,

On behalf of the Beijing City International School’s community, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Nick Kolentse as the new Director of Teaching and Learning beginning in August 2025.  This significant appointment was the result of an extensive global search led by Search Associates.

Nick Kolentse has 16 years of international education leadership experience and is currently the Secondary School Vice Principal at the Canadian International School in Singapore. He brings extensive expertise in curriculum development, teacher professional growth, and strategic initiatives. Nick has led key curriculum enhancements, including the Secondary School Advisory Program, focused on academic excellence and social-emotional well-being. His work in curriculum differentiation, assessment, and student support ensures a student-centered approach to learning.

In professional development, Nick has spearheaded faculty learning programs and developed a teacher appraisal system that promotes growth and effective feedback. Through collaboration and data-informed decision-making, he has built teacher capacity to enhance instructional practices.

Nick holds a Master of Teaching from Whitworth University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Boston College. His expertise in both curriculum and professional development will serve him well in driving educational excellence in his new role. Nick will be relocating to Beijing with his wife Jessica and their children Teddy and Owen, who all look forward to joining the BCIS community.
