Appointed - Mr. Richard Reilly

On behalf of the International School of Krakow, Poland (ISK) Search Committee, we are pleased to announce that Mr. Richard Reilly has been appointed as the new Director beginning in August 2027.
Mr. Reilly, a native of Glasgow, Scotland, has more than 20 years of international school leadership experience including most recently serving as the Interim Director of Bali Island School, where he was asked to lead the CIS/IBO/WASC synchronized accreditation and authorization visit in February 2026. Prior to that he served as Secondary Principal and then Director of the American School of Antanarivo, Madagascar from 2017-2025 where his 3-5 year mission-aligned strategic focus included creation of three diploma pathways, MYP and DP authorization, DEIJ initiatives, emergency responses, and budget transparency. The Global Citizenship Diploma Program (GDC) was also a high priority. At Hong Kong Academy (2013-17), he served as the Secondary Assistant Principal and IBDP Coordinator. In addition, Mr. Reilly taught Physics at the International School of Manila and at Stirling Council, Scotland.
Richard had an interesting first career as well serving the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (UK) as a Counter-Terrorism Analyst (North Africa focus) and Political Attaché in both London and Beijing.
Mr. Reilly holds an M.Ed. in Leadership and Management from Open Universith (UK), a Certificate of Instructional Leadership from the Principals Training Center, and a PGDE in Secondary Science Education and B.Sc. degree in Physics and Math from Strathclyde University.
The ISK Search Committee selected Mr. Reilly from a highly experienced and qualified group of candidates based on his considerable past leadership experience in Educational Administration. Ms. Vanya Panamska, Chair of the ISK Search Committee, shared the following stand out reasons for offering the position to Mr. Reilly in her announcement to the school community, noting he offers ISK:
- A rare combination of data-informed decision-making and genuine emotional intelligence, someone who leads with both head and heart
- A track record of leading schools through real complexity: political unrest, global crises and major institutional change, always with student wellbeing at the centre
- Deep, hands-on experience with the IB continuum, from curriculum development to full programme authorization
- A warm, authentic connection with students. Every single student who met him during his visit recommended him, without exception
- Strong self-awareness and honesty about his own areas for growth, a quality our community valued deeply across every panel he met
Mr. Reilly is eager to join ISK, Krakow, Poland in August of 2027 and looks forward to serving as the Director. In response to his appointment, Mr. Reilly shared the following:
I am very excited to join the diverse community of the International School of Krakow. I immediately felt welcome and at home when I visited the campus and met the students, faculty, parents, and board. The school's core values are closely aligned with my own, and I look forward to supporting the school in implementing its strategic plan over the next three years.
