Appointed - Dr. Tamu Lucero

Dear Search Colleagues,
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the International School of Kenya Search Committee, we are pleased to announce that Dr. Tamu Lucero has been appointed the Head of School, beginning August 2026.
Dr. Lucero is Superintendent of the 16,200-student school district in Stamford, Connecticut, a position she has held since 2019. She also served as Deputy Superintendent(2018-2019) and Assistant Superintendent (2013-2018). Dr. Lucero served as an Elementary Principal in three schools for thirteen years before moving into the Assistant Superintendent role.
Dr. Lucero earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Wright State University, M.A. in Educational Administration from The Ohio State University, and an Ed.D. from Ohio University.
The Board of Directors, the Search Committee of the International School of Kenya, and Search Associates would like to thank all candidates who expressed interest in the Director position and those who assisted and supported the successful search process.
In announcing Dr. Lucero’s appointment to the ISK community, the Board Chair made the following comments. “After an exhaustive search that culminated last month with on-campus interviews with the top candidates, I am pleased to share that we have reached a decision in the search for ISK’s next leader. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am excited to announce that Dr. Tamu Lucero will join ISK as Head of School beginning in July 2026. Dr. Lucero’s initial contract term is four years. She will be joined in Nairobi by her husband, John. We are thrilled that Dr. Lucero will be sharing her extensive experience, leadership skills, and passion for education with our community.”
