Dear Search Associates Colleagues,

On behalf of the Nanjing International School’s community, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Sandra Chow as the new Deputy Director/Director of Learning beginning in August 2024. This significant appointment was the result of an extensive global search led by Search Associates.

Ms. Chow boasts an impressive career as an educator and school leader, spanning more than two decades, both in Canada and internationally. She currently serves as Director of Digital and Innovative Learning at Keystone Academy, in Beijing, China. Through her professional journey, Ms. Chow has held a variety of teaching and leadership roles and will bring a wealth of experience to her new role, including her expertise spearheading transformative curriculum enhancements and innovative pedagogical approaches. Ms. Chow is also a coach, academic writer, and presenter within the international education community. 

Ms. Chow holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Ottawa, Canada, and also earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting from the University of Waterloo, Canada. She is presently pursuing a Doctor of Education from Western University in Ontario, Canada.  She will be accompanied to Nanjing by her husband Ray, and their children, Kasper, Mayah, and Jonah.

The School Director, Mr. Laurie McLellan, has remarked: “NIS is delighted to welcome Sandra Chow to the school. She is a listener, a thinker and an ideas person with practical solutions to enable innovation. At NIS we like to push the leading edge, so Ms. Chow is the ideal addition to our team. As we move into our new HUB in 2024 we look forward to Ms. Chow’s insights into how to maximise this non-traditional three floor space for our 600 students. NIS is an inclusive learning community which welcomes Sandra Chow and her family with open arms.”

In accepting the position, Ms. Chow stated, “NIS is a forward-thinking community, dedicated to lifting the voices of students and readying them for a dynamic, complex and global society. The passion and energy of students, educators and parents in the NIS community is infectious, and our family is delighted to be joining such a thriving and caring environment.”
