Teach Abroad in Kuwait

Northwest Bilingual School Kuwait (Northwest) is a young and rapidly-growing K–12 day school in Farwaniya, Kuwait. The school boasts spacious classrooms and play areas as well as plenty of educational resources.

Fully accredited by the Middle States Association, Northwest offers a U.S. standards-based education along with Arabic language and Islam instruction as per the Ministry of Education requirements. All of its students, 97% of whom are Kuwaiti, are English language learners. Currently enrolled are 768 students, with 2% from North America. The school’s international faculty of 73 includes 23 from North America and two from Kuwait.

Students from elementary through Grade 12 may join after-school programs: Reading/English Language Arts, Maths, Arabic, and Language. A daily, one-hour after-school club for kindergarten students offers activities in reading, writing, Arabic, and art, providing both fun and academic enrichment.

The Northwest Student Council partners students with school management, staff, and parents to help to create programs, work to improve the school, and represent Northwest as a whole. Representatives are selected from elementary, middle, and high school levels through nominations.

Northwest prefers to hire single teachers but would consider married couples, including those with a non-teaching spouse. They will also consider outstanding newly-certified candidates and experienced teachers lacking certification. All candidates must hold their academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. Those up to the age of 60 may obtain a work visa.

The benefits package includes a non-taxed salary and either housing or the option for a housing stipend. Those who arrive with their work visa finalized receive an allowance for settling in. Annual airfare is provided as well. Tuition is free for up to two children. Local health insurance is fully covered along with worldwide coverage for emergency cases only. This package allows for a bit of savings.
