Search Melbourne Fair 2024: A Springboard to International Teaching

Search Associates’ Melbourne Fair, January 6-8th, proved to be a dynamic platform for educators seeking international teaching positions. Hosted at the Intercontinental Rialto in Melbourne, the fair attracted a diverse array of 39 schools from over a dozen countries around the world. With over 300 vacancies to fill, there was a wide range of options for attendees. Fair host, Senior Associate Nick Kendell reports,

Melbourne Fair’s uniquely high placement rate persisted, with many candidates accepting roles and getting ready to take the first steps of their international journeys…This remarkable number of candidates receiving job offers during the fair underscores the growing demand for qualified educators in the international school sector.

One candidate flew 30 hours to be at the fair, arriving late the first night. By the second morning, however, his concerns had shifted from severe jetlag to which of his job offers he planned to accept. Another candidate, Guy, said of the fair,

The experience has been very positive, and it was a welcoming and highly organised event. Nick and the rest of the fair staff have been incredibly supportive.

The 98 teachers in attendance had plenty of opportunities to connect with representatives from renowned international schools during luncheons and the candidate/recruiter evening social. Participants were also invited to a presentation by Senior Consultant Caroline Jacoby, “Recruiting for Aspiring and Current Leaders,” which offered advice about cover letters, CVs, interviews, follow-ups, and more.

Melbourne Fair, the first for 2024, is noted for its friendly, supportive atmosphere as well as its aim to be the springboard for international careers. By bringing together a multitude of schools and qualified candidates, the fair not only facilitates professional connections but also contributes to the global exchange of educational expertise and talent.
