After a worldwide search producing a large number of highly qualified candidates, the Board of Directors, assisted by Senior Associate Ralph Jahr appointed Dr. Robert Imholt as the new Director of the International Community School of Abidjan in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire for the 2014-2015 academic year.
Dr. Imholt, currently Middle School Principal at Colegio Nueva Granada in Bogota, Colombia, has held several other administrative and teaching positions in Paraguay, Venezuela, Japan, Qatar, and in the USA. Joining him in all these locations has been his spouse, Jennifer Imholt, an elementary school teacher. They have one school-age son in Grade 3.
Dr. Imholt earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Touro University International in 2009, as well as BA and MAT Degrees from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. Over the years, he has also been a member of many AdvancEd Visiting Accreditation Teams.
The International Community School of Abidjan (ICSA) is an independent, coeducational, PreK-12 school, offering an American style educational program. French, the official language of the Cote d'Ivoire, is taught from grades 1-12. ICSA is fully accredited by the Middle States Association (MSA) and the Council of International Schools and recognized and supported by the U.S. Department of State through its Office of Overseas Schools.
ICSA, founded in 1972 by diplomatic families abroad, associated with the US Embassy, currently enrolls 211 students representing 30 different nations. The facility has been built to accommodate 400 students with 30 air-conditioned classrooms, in addition to an early childhood area, science labs, art and music rooms, lower and upper school libraries and computer labs, athletic fields and facilities, an outdoor lunch area and a multipurpose room.
Dr. Imholt will be working with a nine-member Board of Directors, seven of whom are elected by the Parents' Association.
