Experience Bilingual Excellence with an Overseas Teaching Opportunity in the USA

Arco Iris Spanish Immersion (Arco Iris) welcomes you to Beaverton, Oregon, where you can immerse yourself in a rich Spanish language experience and robust academics within a truly multicultural setting. This small, public charter school aims to nurture and inspire students in Grades K–5 in the greater Beaverton area to become bilingual and biliterate leaders of the future.

Centrally located between Portland and Tualatin, Oregon, Arco Iris Iris’s newly renovated suburban campus lies in an industrial park, adjacent to a beautiful green community space. Many of the school’s international teachers choose to live in Portland, enjoying the city’s diverse opportunities and excellent cuisine.

Arco Iris operates under the guidance and oversight of the Beaverton School District, delivering the U.S. Common Core within its bilingual curriculum. Currently, the school enrolls 420 U.S. students, with 50% of the teaching staff hailing from the U.S. and the other 50% from Spain, Mexico, and Peru.

The school offers comfort, safety, and fun through its before- and after-school programs. Each morning, from 7 a.m. until the start of school, children enjoy a healthy snack while reading, chatting, and playing games. In the after-school program, children practice conversational Spanish through engaging activities. Until 5:30 p.m., the experienced and nurturing staff guides outdoor play, speaking and listening activities, arts and crafts, songs, puppet shows, dancing, storytelling, and other creative formats. All activities are conducted in Spanish and correspond to school themes, holidays, and celebrations.

Arco Iris hires certified, experienced teachers from diverse backgrounds, including couples where one partner is not in a teaching role. Candidates need an academic degree in the subject they will teach, and there is no age limit for obtaining a work visa, per government regulations.

The overseas teaching benefits package includes a moving allowance, free education, and a subsidized after-school program for all dependents. The school also provides professional development opportunities for its staff. Local health insurance, including dental, vision, long-term disability, and emergency evacuation is fully covered. Additionally, there are local employment opportunities for non-teaching partners.
