Elevate Your Teaching Journey: Join LEH Foshan in China's Greater Bay Area

Experience overseas teaching at a British international School, Lady Eleanor Holles International School Foshan, China (LEH Foshan) located in the heart of the Greater Bay Area. The Council of British International Schools (COBIS) names LEH Foshan a “COBIS Patron’s Accredited School in Guangdong Province, China” and recommends “Beacon Status, for its wellbeing provision and the staff culture which the school has created.” LEH Foshan delivers the English National Curriculum to both day and boarding students, ages 6-18, while a wide range of subject choices allow students to go beyond academic excellence.

Foshan—near to both Hong Kong and Macao—is a city rich in cultural heritage and at the forefront of technological and economic development; the city seamlessly blends traditional Chinese culture—and local Cantonese culture—with modern living. Foshan’s proximity to Hong Kong and Macau allows for rich cultural excursions and exceptional international experiences. And the school’s location in this dynamic region ensures that its community is part of a thriving, cosmopolitan environment ideal for those seeking a vibrant international teaching and learning experience.

LEH Foshan's campus is the result of a collaboration with a renowned UK architectural firm to ensure that the aesthetically pleasing and highly functional facilities align with UK standards. To maintain authenticity and quality, many of the school’s facilities and resources have been imported directly from the UK. Classrooms are spacious, well-lit, and equipped with interactive whiteboards and the latest educational technology. State-of-the-art science laboratories encourage hands-on learning in physics, chemistry, and biology. Dedicated studios for visual arts, music, and drama as well as a performing arts center support and showcase the talents of LEH Foshan’s students and staff. A multi-purpose sports hall, professional-standard athletics track, football pitch, swimming pool, and outdoor court—serve both the PE programme and competitive sports teams. Finally, student boarding houses have been designed to be a home away from home.

Licensed by the Ministry of Education in China and fully accredited by the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), LEH Foshan delivers an enhanced UK national curriculum for Years 2-13 (aged 6-18), leading to internationally respected International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Advanced Level (A Level) qualifications. In addition to core subject areas—English, Science and Mathematics—Chinese and Spanish language, Visual Art, Music, Design and Technology, Global Perspective, Business Studies, Economics, Computer Science, and Physical Education are offered. Currently enrolled in the day and boarding school are over 230 students. This diverse group of young learners comes from various international backgrounds, creating a rich tapestry of cultures and experiences within the school. Ninety percent of the teaching staff are British, and complementing the faculty are dedicated local professionals who provide support as teaching assistants and English Language Learning teachers.

After school, a diverse range of extracurricular activities include robotics, Debate Club, and Model UN. LEH Foshan also hosts events like concerts, winter markets, science fairs, and Earth Day exhibitions as well as art showcases that promote global awareness while celebrating the school’s diverse community.

LEH Foshan hires international teachers of all backgrounds regardless of race, gender, status, or religion. This includes couples with a non-teaching partner and candidates with at least two years’ experience. They would also consider interns. Teachers must have an academic degree but need not hold one in the subject they will be teaching. As per government regulations, those up to the age of 60 may obtain a work visa.

The overseas teaching benefits package includes furnished housing—including utilities—or a comparable housing stipend, moving and settling in allowances, annual airfare for the employee and dependents, and full tuition for up to two children. Available for use, at no cost are the school’s sports facilities—gym, swimming pool, basketball court, badminton court. Worldwide health insurance—except for the U.S.—is fully covered and includes life insurance and long-term disability. Dependents who live with the international school employee in China are also covered. There are local employment opportunities for non-teaching partners. The school adds,
