Key Roles: 

The Director of Sport is an administrative professional whose duties include, but are not limited to, the oversight and coordination of all scholastic and interscholastic sporting events and activities at the school to ensure sporting excellence and lifelong physical activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with curricular leaders and sport department to ensure the K-12 PE curriculum is vertically aligned and appropriate to the needs of the sectional curriculum
  • Ensure the quality of PE instruction aligns with the academic goals across the school
  • Lead in the program development and supervision of PE instruction in all designated areas
  • Work with the Aquatics Director to ensure all aquatics instruction aligns with the PE curriculum
  • Work with the Aquatics Director to ensure all aquatics meets hosted at SFS are operated successfully
  • Manage all interscholastic sports and activities for the entire school
  • Coordinate all administrative duties related to all SFS sports exchanges, sporting events, and after-school or SWEP sporting activities
  • Ensure that all sporting events are in line with the mission and learning goals of SFS
  • Organize all administrative duties related to overseas travel for SFS sporting events
  • Review, update, and articulate the FOBISIA, KAIAC and APAC programs with all stakeholders
  • Lead all coaches, officials, volunteers, and support personnel to effectively meet the goals of the SFS sports programs
  • Provide effective guidelines and operational criteria for those involved in each program
  • Develop and manage the operational budgets for all sporting events and travels
  • Recommend maintenance and facility upgrades in support of annual budget reviews
  • Submit and oversee effective completion of regular maintenance and facility upgrades as needed throughout the school year
  • Oversee all aspects related to safety of the facilities, the programs offered, and that adequate support personnel are in place for each event
  • Liaise with parent organizations relative to all sporting events at SFS
  • Supervise and evaluate all coaching staff and any related personnel
  • Support the administration in relation to recommendations for future staff selection
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with all sectional administrators and sporting coordinators at the school
  • Schedule and oversee the appropriate use of all facilities for sporting events as well as other classroom needs at the school
  • Post all sporting event schedules on school calendars, the SFS website, and appropriate other communications for all stakeholders to have adequate access to all sporting events
  • Schedule facility usage for curricular and extracurricular activities
  • Report on all sport activities on a seasonal basis, or as requested, and include the following details:
    o Students involved in the various activities
    o Budget implications of the programs
    o Staffing and supervision
    o Progress towards meeting annual goals in this area
  • Effectively represent SFS at various events and at regional conferences
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Administration

 

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree
  • Two years of experience in the field of education
  • Teaching certification
  • Ability to inspire and lead others
  • Ability to use computers for word processing, data management, website updates, and effective communication to all stakeholders
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • High levels of confidentiality and personal integrity
  • Strong initiative to meet desired objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills which allow them to relate well with all stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both in written and oral contexts
  • Team player with ability to work well with a diverse group of people
  • Committed to meeting deadlines and to communicating effectively
  • Flexible approach to the necessary work with a willingness to adapt and take on new areas of responsibility as required
  • Prior experience in this type of position
  • Experience leading other personnel effectively

 

Key Reports:
The Aquatics Director, PE teachers, and SWEP assistant report to the Director of Sport. The Director of Sport reports to the AHOS-A.
* Base salary would start at the USD 65,000 range or higher, depending on skill and experience levels.
