1. WELCOME
This is our late-season job fair which is focused on schools in the greater China region, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. About 1/3 of all the vacancies in the world that are posted on our database are in the greater China region. Because the attending schools are from these fast-growing international education markets, we usually have more job vacancies than candidates attending and those who attend will have a high probability of getting multiple interviews and/or job offers. This fair also provides networking opportunities and is thus an excellent place to do in-depth research and meet the recruiters from the top-quality international schools in these regions.
The Fair is committed to DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) and welcomes candidates from diverse backgrounds.
The schools recruiting at the Shanghai Fair are not only resource-rich, but also often at the cutting-edge of innovation in international education in the 21st century. These schools are interested in candidates who are not only high in quality, but also open-minded, flexible and enthusiastic about cross-cultural collaboration to enrich teaching and learning. As demand is high, aspiring candidates often find themselves with many career growth opportunities within 1-3 years of working in these fast-growing schools.
2. INVITATION
The Fair opens its books for school and candidate registrations a few months before the fair. As we were full last year and expect the same next year, we ask schools and candidates to register as early as possible to reserve a place.
Teaching and Leadership Candidates:
- If you are already registered with the Hong Kong office, please email me to request an invitation.
- If you are not yet registered with Search, please contact me for information on joining Search Associates and attending the Shanghai Fair.
- If you are registered with another Senior Associate, please contact him/her to request an invitation to the Shanghai Fair.
3. DATES
The fair is held over a 2-day period which will consist of school presentations, informative workshops, interview sign-up sessions and most importantly, job interviews with top recruiters!
- Recruiters: Arrive in Shanghai by Friday afternoon, March 8, 2024. Mandatory to register at the Fair Hotel during 5:30-6:30 pm on Friday. Leave the Fair Venue after 12 pm and before 1 pm on Sunday, March 10.
- Candidates: Arrive in Shanghai by Friday evening, March 8, 2024 or very early morning on Saturday. Mandatory to register at the Fair Venue during 8-9 am on Saturday. Leave the Fair Venue after 12 pm and before 1 pm on Sunday, March 10.
4. LOCATIONS
The Fair Venue, the campus of the Western International School of Shanghai, is where most of the fair events will take place.
The Fair Hotel is a hotel close to the Fair Venue with which we have arranged special discount rates for registered participants.
- Recruiters are recommended to stay at the Fair Hotel. Recruiter registration and reception will take place at the Fair Hotel on Friday, Mar. 8.
- Candidates have the option to stay at the Fair Hotel.
- Shuttle bus service will be provided to the Fair Venue for guests staying at the Fair Hotel.

5. VISA
Shanghai and the nearby provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang allow travelers from 53 countries to stay in certain cities for up to 144 hours (6 days) without applying for a Chinese travel visa. You must be in transit to a third country or region (Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan are included among possible third regions). For example, the USA to Shanghai to Hong Kong is acceptable for a 144-hour transit visa in Shanghai, but the USA to Shanghai to the USA is not.
